KUCHING: The Bintulu-Jepak Bridge, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, will offer various benefits to residents.
Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee said the unique bridge will feature a tower, equipped with an elevator which can act as a platform for the surrounding community to generate income.
“We want the residents to be ready to move forward with Jepak’s development, followed by advancement in the hospitality sector and the entrepreneurial industry.
“When the bridge is completed, we can attract visitors to come here to see the panoramic view from the top of the bridge and enjoy the beauty and facilities provided.
“Just like in Kuching, visitors go to the Roxy Hotel, Kampung Pantai Pugu in Lundu. Similarly, we want this bridge to become an attraction in Jepak,” he said during a media session at the Apirasi Pembangunan Komuniti Jepak at Jalan Matang here today.
Furthermore, he said the bridge will also provide facilities to hold various events in the future.
“The bridge is suitable for us to hold community programmes for Bintulu and residents in Jepak.
“At the same time, we can also give space to the people around to do business, thus generating income for the entrepreneurs,” he said.
On a related note, he expressed hope that development in Jepak can continue by creating the necessary services such as fire stations, petrol stations and Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) among others.
With these initiatives in place, Iskandar aspired for all efforts to be fully utilised by the society.
“Numerous plans have been set in motion for Jepak, and we are committed to executing these plans in collaboration with the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) in the future,” he added.
