BINTULU: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) here will carry out the Ops Khas Pagar Laut from April 19 to May 17.
Bintulu MMEA director Capt (M) Mohd Khairol Anuar Saad said the special operation was aimed at curbing and combating cross-border criminal activities.
“We always strive to improve security in the country’s waters to ensure the safety of our maritime community.
“We will not allow any criminal activities to take place, especially during the festive season,” he said at a ceremony at the Jepak jetty here yesterday.
At the ceremony, Capt (M) Mohd Khairol witnessed the handover of command for MMEA vessel KM Renggis between Lt-Cmdr (M) Mohd Nor Saifuddin Jamaludin and Lt-Cmdr (M) Mohd Naiem Razak.
He congratulated Lt-Cmdr (M) Mohd Naiem on his new command and hoped that he and his crew would discharge their responsibilities in protecting the country’s waters, especially the waters here, with honour and pride.
