BINTULU: Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing has reaffirmed his dedication to honouring promises and addressing the needs of the constituents in the Bintulu parliamentary constituency.
With a track record spanning 25 years in service, the Bintulu MP stressed his commitment to delivering on commitments made to the people.
Acknowledging recent technical challenges in allocation distribution due to changes in federal administration and leadership over the past year, he assured the community during a speech at the Christmas and New Year’s Eve Dinner 2024, organised by the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Jepak.
The event on Wednesday (Dec 27), held in collaboration with the Jepak Tuai Rumah Association, brought together around 2,000 guests.
“I will fulfill what I promise. We have been ‘married’ for over 25 years, and I have never failed to deliver on what I promised,” Tiong stated, requesting understanding from the public as he works to reorganise the distribution of approved allocations gradually.
The dinner, attended by Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee, Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat Jubin, and Krian assemblyman Friday Belik, among others, served as a platform for fostering unity and goodwill.
Tiong, who is also the federal Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, urged residents, particularly longhouse folk, community and clan leaders, to continue strengthening unity among themselves.
Highlighting the significance of promoting religious harmony, he noted the need to educate the younger generation on respecting diverse religions.
In his remarks earlier, Jepak PDP chairman Banyang Dato said the purpose of the dinner was to enhance relationships and goodwill among representatives in the Jepak area and the Bintulu Parliament.
He hoped the event would further strengthen ties between PDP members, government and private agencies, as well as community and clan leaders, contributing to the overall advancement of the area.
