BINTULU: In a commitment to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds and foster enthusiasm for learning, Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) has introduced the Bintulu Port Academic Encouragement Scheme Special Award in conjunction with the SMK Baru Outstanding Student Award (APC) 2023.

The special award was presented to the top 10 students from Form 1 to Form 5 at the school, totalling 50 recipients. The initiative includes the Co-Curriculum Character and Uniformed Body Award, as well as the Bintulu Port Character Main Special Award.

BPHB Group chief executive officer Roslan Abdul Ghani, in his speech read by chief financial officer Daiana Luna Suip, said this programme, part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, marks the company’s first involvement in such an educational effort.

The awards aim to encourage active learning among selected students, emphasising that financial difficulties should not hinder their educational pursuits.

“In total, 65 students from SMK Baru Bintulu were selected to receive the Outstanding Student Award (APC) from Bintulu Port.
