BINTULU: The division’s biggest mosque, Masjid Asyakirin Bintulu has received one unit of Geolift Single Mast Aerial Work Platform from Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB).
This was following a request made by the management of the mosque to BPHB early last month.
Geolift Single Mast Aerial Work Platform is a mechanical device used to provide temporary access for people to inaccessible areas usually at height.
BPHB group chief executive officer Datuk Mohammad Medan Abdullah officially handed over the device to the mosque at a simple ceremony held at its multipurpose hall on Wednesday.
“We received a letter from the mosque management requesting for sponsorship of the device on October 8 last year. The application was officially approved on November 17, 2020.
“However, I was informed that the purchasing and delivery process took a long time due to the Covid-19 pandemic that gripped the whole country. We only received delivery of the device sometime last month,” he added.
He said the Geolift Single Mast Aerial Work Platform would, to a certain extent, facilitated the maintenance activities of the mosque.
Medan said as one of the interest companies in Bintulu, BPHB was continuously committed in implementing its corporate social responsibility (CSR) to the local community, in both rural and urban areas.
“The company’s seriousness in the implementation of our CSR is evident in the various programmes that have either been implemented or still in the pipeline to those in need,” he disclosed.
For 2020 and 2021, most of BPHB’s CSR programmes was focused on efforts to help fight the spread of Covid-19, he added.
According to Medan, like any other companies, BPHB was also not spread from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Also present were Masjid Asyakiri Bintulu management committee secretary, who is also chairman of the mosque management committee Abang Arshad Abang Anuar, BPHB group corporate services senior manager and 2021 Caring Bintulu Port CSR programme chairperson Maslihah Tioh, Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd chief operations officer Yusof Ibrahim and Biport Bulkers Sdn Bhd chief operations officer Abu Bakar Hussaini.
