DEBAK: Bintulu Rangers were crowned 2019 Sarawak Cup futsal champions (SFC19) after defeating PFA Odin Kuching squad 6-2 in the final at the Riveria Sport Centre, here, Sunday afternoon.
They brought home RM5,000 cash prize, the Sarawak Cup trophy and accompanying trophy while PFA Odin received RM3,000 cash prize, a runners-up trophy and accompanying trophy.
PFA Odin took the lead in the early seventh minute only for Bintulu Rangers to equalise three minutes later.
Barely at the end of the first half, the Bintulu Rangers again blasted a goal for a 2-1 lead.
Bintulu Rangers widened the lead with another goal in the fourth minute of the second half following a melee in front of PFA Odin’s goalkeeper in the five minutes later.
PFA Odin tried to come back in the 15th minute but their attempt hit the bar. Nevertheless, they did not give up and scored a second goal a minute later to narrow the gap to 2-4.
The Bintulu Rangers scored the fifth goal in the 17th minute of the second half and followed up with their sixth goal when the PFA Odin goalkeeper went off position.
The result remained 6-2 until the final whistle to allow them to win the title.
Meanwhile, Bintulu Rangers players Mohd Azri Bumin and Owen Sangin Sebli received the best player and the best goalkeeper awards respectively
Panthera Betong and KSRES Samarahan finished joint third to receive RM2,000 cash prize, including third prize trophies and accompanying trophies each.
Sarawak Football Association (FAS) president Datuk Posa Majais gave away the prizes.
