KUCHING: Bintulu district has been declared a Covid-19 yellow zone following the detection of two locally transmitted cases in the area on Monday (Aug 24).
In announcing this, State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said Kuching district remains a yellow zone with four Covid-19 cases, after the addition of three new locally transmitted cases on the same day, in the last 14 days.
“This brings the total number of yellow zones to two, and green zones at 38,” he told a press conference on Monday (Aug 24).
Uggah also said that SDMC allows only 50 percent seating capacity for social and official events involving public gatherings.
He said the number of attendees allowed would be subjected to the size of the space while adhering to physical distancing rules.
“If a place can sit 1,000 people, then only 500 would be allowed,” he said, citing an example to clarify.
Fielding questions from reporters, Uggah also said that SDMC has allowed travellers from West Malaysia, Sabah and Labuan, undergoing quarantine in Sarawak, to return to their home states prior to receiving their respective test results.
“We need them to leave their contact details. Once the results are released, we will inform them immediately.
“If they are found to be positive for Covid-19, further actions will be taken at their respective home states,” he said.
