SANDAKAN: The setting up of a swiftlet nest processing factory in Batu Sapi near here will enable Bumiputeras in Sabah to penetrate the global market for the product.
The Bumiputera-status pre-cleaned raw material processing factory, a joint venture between the Sabah Swiftlet Nest Farming Association and Syarikat AMG Advance Profitable Enterprise, has been operating at the Majulah Industrial Centre since August.
Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Jaujan Sambakong, who officiated the factory’s launch yesterday, said he wanted the communication network platform established through the factory’s opening to lead to a strong cooperation as well as technology and marketing information sharing among Bumiputeras.
He noted that the venture between AMG Advance Profitable Enterprise and the Sabah Swiftlet Nest Farming Association would help preserve the industry in this district via the 100 per cent Bumiputera-owned company.
“The state leadership will strive to help the bird’s nest farmers and factories to operate in a pragmatic and innovative manner through the current marketing network of AMG Advance Profitable Enterprise, and this will be refined to achieve the objective of Sabah directly exporting bird’s nests to China,” he added.
Earlier, AMG Advance Profitable Enterprise Chief Executive Officer Shamsudin Chinu said the company, which has been in operation for 10 years, had built 208 swiftlet houses in the state.
He added that the opening of the bird’s nest processing factory would allow the company to take another step towards spurring the socioeconomic growth of Bumiputera entrepreneurs. – Bernama
