Form 1 students beaten up by seniors
KUCHING: Three Form 1 students of Sekolah Menengah (SM) Sains Kuching were badly beaten up by a group of 11 seniors in a dormitory last Sunday.
According to Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan, the incident occurred at 1am when one of the victims was called to a room by his seniors.
“The group forced the victim to fight one-on-one with one of them. When the victim refused to do so, the bullies then punched him in the arms, hips and buttocks as well as put a headlock on him.
“The other victims were also called by turns to the same room and were severely beaten up,” he said in a statement.
All three victims returned to their dorm around 3.10am with bruises on various parts of their bodies.
The father of one of the victims, Adzahar Zaidel, lodged a police report on Monday after his son informed him about the incident.
“The other two victims’ families have also lodged police reports,” Aidil said.
He added that all the 11 suspects, comprising Form 3-5 students, were brought in for questioning at the Kota Sentosa police station.
The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
