KUCHING: A wood factory at Mile 48, Jalan Kuching-Serian was partially damaged by a fire yesterday (Sept 26).

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) reported receiving an emergency call at around 4.53 pm, prompting the dispatch of firefighters from the Serian station.

Upon arrival, the firefighters swiftly took action and managed to bring the blaze under control by 5.36 pm.

“However, by that time, approximately 40 per cent of the factory had already been destroyed,” Bomba said in a statement today.

The fire was extinguished by 7.51 pm, and the operation ended shortly after.

No casualties were reported, and the cause of the fire, as well as the total loss, are still being ascertained.
