MUKAH: Two families were lucky to escape a blaze that destroyed their homes here.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), it received an emergency call at 5.04pm, Thursday (May 12), regarding the fire.
Firefighters from the Mukah station rushed to the location at Kampung Tutus Hilir, some 9km from the station.
“The operation commander reported back that two single-storey houses were burned to the ground.
“Firefighters were quick to control the flames from spreading to other surrounding houses.
“Both families from the two houses were safe. There were eight occupants, three men and five women, from the first house and five occupants, four men and one woman, from the second house,” Bomba said.
The blaze was later put out and the operation ended at 7.19pm.
