BINTANGOR: Twenty-five workers were left homeless yesterday (May 7) after a devastating fire destroyed three blocks of workers’ quarters at a sawmill along Jalan Sungai Sian, here.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the fire, which occurred around 5.20 pm.

Some of the workers were resting in their quarters when the fire erupted, but they managed to evacuate safely.

Firefighters from Bintangor station rushed to the scene to tackle the blaze after receiving an emergency call.

Upon arrival, they found three blocks of workers’ quarters, each containing 10 doors, ablaze. Fortunately, one block was unoccupied at the time.

The team battled the flames for about one hour before it was finally extinguished at 7.50 pm.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
