MIRI: Eleven people were left homeless after fire razed two wooden houses in Tudan on Saturday afternoon.

Firemen from Miri and Lopeng fire stations were rushed to the scene upon receiving an emergency alert on the incident at 2.54pm.

The houses were completely destroyed by the time the firemen arrived. The firemen however, managed to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby houses.

A house owner Ura Bilong, 40, said, she and her youngest child were in Lutong when the incident occurred. Ura immediately rushed back only to see her house burnt to ashes.

“I was at a mall there (in Lutong) to shop for school uniform for my daughter when one of my neighbours informed me about the fire,” she said when met at the scene.

She said that at the time, only her 13 year-old son was inside the house.

“I am relieved that everyone is safe and unharmed in the incident,” she added.
