KUCHING: Today (Aug 27), a morning fire ravaged two wooden houses at Kampung Tabuan Cemerlang, Jalan Setia Raja, leaving thirty-seven individuals homeless.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the 9 am incident as all occupants managed to evacuate safely.

A spokesperson for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) stated that firefighters from Tabuan Jaya and Padungan stations promptly responded to the emergency call.

Upon arrival, they discovered the two houses, housing six families and one family respectively, were beyond salvation.

Firefighters utilized water from their tanker and a hydrant located approximately 900 meters away to extinguish the flames, successfully preventing the spread to two nearby houses.

By 9:27 am, the flames were under control, and overhaul operations commenced to eliminate any risk of reignition.

The operation concluded at 11:32 am once the area was deemed safe.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the losses are currently under investigation.
