SIBU: The Department of Land and Survey (JTS) Sibu has granted a temporary occupation licence (TOL) to 34 property owners in Block D Kampung Hijrah Village here on Friday.
This was confirmed by Education, Science and Technological Research Assistant Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee when contacted on Saturday.
“This has also fulfilled the villagers’ desire to own a piece of land.
“The letter of ownership was supposed to be handed over to the landowners last month but had to be postponed because of the conditional movement control order (CMCO),” said Dr Annuar who is also the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Housing.
He further said the state government has approved the relocation in Kampung Hijrah, where it is divided into four blocks namely A, B, C and D.
He also said the Public Works Department (JKR) would start building roads in Block D starting next week after the allocation from the state government was received.
“The state government has approved RM800,000 for the development of infrastructure such as tar roads and drainage in Block D,” he said.
Dr Annuar who is also Nangka assemblyman said when the Block D was first surveyed, there were more than 30 vacant lots while 34 lots were owned.
He said Block C is still being surveyed while Block B would not be surveyed but given to the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) while the survey on the largest block, Block A, was already completed.
“The four blocks belong to LCDA, where the state government has approved the resettlement of the area. Therefore, the three blocks have been returned to the people,” he said.
For the record, Block A, C, and D had a total of 366 lots of which each respectively had 153, 132 and 81 lots.
