KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Public Complaints Bureau (SPCB) Chief, Wilfred Yap was recently approached by a coffeeshop owner operating in a row of shophouses in front of Kota Sentosa Wet Market who complained to him of an overflowing septic tank at the back lane of his shop.
Yap said after the complaint was lodged, he and an officer from the Public Health Department of Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) immediately went to see the coffeeshop owner. They then went to inspect, assess and also see what can be done to solve the matter.
After making a preliminary assessment of the matter, it was discovered that the piping outlet of the main septic tank was blocked by decaying organic wastes and rubbish indiscriminately disposed into the drain.
Yap thanked officers from Padawan Municipal Council for rectifying the problem through their swift action in clearing and removing the rubbish and decaying organic wastes in the piping outlet of the septic tank.
He also advised traders and business operators in the Kota Sentosa Commercial area to cooperate and be considerate by not disposing of any rubbish or organic wastes into the drains to prevent blockages in the future.
