KUCHING: The Information Department here (JaPen) is inviting the public to participate in its blood donation drive this Saturday (Oct 16).
It will be held at the lobby of Mydin Vista Tunku Petra Jaya from 10am to 3pm.
“The blood donation is organised in conjunction with the Sepakat @ Komuniti programme aimed to ensure that the blood supply at Sarawak General Hospital’s (SGH) Blood Bank is sufficient.
“The SGH Blood Bank is currently experiencing shortage of Group O blood type. It is estimated that 60 to 70 blood bags are needed everyday for the hospital’s daily operations, including supplying blood to district and private hospitals within the Kuching area,” Kuching JaPen said on Wednesday (Oct 13).
It also advised the public to bring their identification card as well as donation book if any.
“Besides that, please ensure that you are well rested before donating your blood. For previous Covid-19 patients, you can donate your blood 14 days after full recovery.
“As for close contacts to Covid-19 patients, you can donate your blood after completing your quarantine period.”
Souvenirs would be distributed to blood donors who are successful as a token of appreciation for doing their social responsibility to the community.
