ROBAN: The Sungai Seblak Boat Race Championship is making a comeback after 23 years in conjunction with the 2023 Roban Festival.
A total of 12 teams have confirmed their participation in the Nov 10-12 event.
They are the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) Kampung Tengah Kupang, Kampung Melango Lama Tengah, Kampung Melayu Roban, Kampung Masjid Hulu, Kampung Tanjung Hilir, Kampung Pagan, Rumah Panjang Brues Michael Gomes, Rumah Panjang Punggah, Kampung Empelam, Kampung Hulu Kupang , Kampung Masjid Hilir and JKKK Rumah Panjang Ikom Senyawan.
The head of the Sungai Seblak Boat Race Committee, Kasdi Pandi said the boat race will be the main attraction of the Roban Festival.
“Perhaps not as great as the Kalaka Regatta but the organisation of Jaguh Lumba Perau Sungai Seblak has its own uniqueness.
“It will definitely be able to attract many visitors,” he said.
He added that this year’s Roban Festival has the support of Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri, Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir and Krian assemblyman Friday Belik.
