KUCHING: Premier League 2019 top scorer Bobby Gonzales is leaving Sarawak but is still unsure of which state he will play for in the league next year.
Bobby’s playing contract with Sarawak football team has ended and Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) has decided not to renew it.
“At the moment no team has officially contacted me, so I will just wait for a few more weeks to decide what course of action I will take as regards to my football career,” Bobby told TribuneSport here yesterday.
When asked if any other teams make an offer to him, Bobby said earlier on there were some teams verbally contacting him, including those from the Super League.
“I told them to wait because I am still interested to play for Sarawak and I also thought at that time FAS would renew my contract.
“FAS has been late in informing me that they are not renewing my contract. If I knew it earlier I would have accepted a verbal offer from one of those teams,” said Bobby.
At the moment he is still in Kuching sorting out his things like house rent and his car instalment.
Bobby also claimed that FAS has not paid his one month plus salary, but said he has sent a reminder to the team manager asking for it.
Bobby repeated his 2018 achievement at the 2019 National Football Awards (ABK) last month when he won the Premier League (local player) top scorer award for this season.
He scored nine goals for the Sarawak team, and received his trophy from Malaysia Football League chief executive officer (CEO) Kevin Ramalinggam.
Last year Bobby received the same award for scoring 12 goals for the Sarawak FA team.
