KUCHING: Sarawak team manager, Abdul Wahab Rahim described the success of bringing one point back from Terengganu from Monday night match as a significant achievement. Sarawak draws 1-1 against Terengganu FC I I at Sul tan Nasiruddin Shah Stadium.
Sabah-born striker, Bobby Gonzales saved Sarawak’s dignity after scoring an equaliser goal during the injury time (93rd minute). Bobby scored the only goal through Abdul Rahim Razak’s cross just before the final whistle.
Terengganu FC II led the match as early the first minute through a goal from their import star, Akanni Sunday Wasiu. “The result will certainly give inspiration and a morale boost to Sarawak players,” Wahab said.
“Overall, however, there are some weaknesses, but I’m not very worried because it can be overcome later,” he added. Sarawak went ahead on the Monday night match without head coach, Ian Gillan, who is still in Scotland, managing his mother’s funeral. His place was taken over by assistant coach, Pengiran Bala and assisted by Safri Amit.
The live broadcast game on RTM TV1’s saw Terengganu FC II dominating the game. Sarawak looked pretty loose in midfield and a bit chaotic in defence. Sarawak also failed to dominate the midfield well. Sarawak will face Felcra FC here on Feb 19. Sarawak won 1-0 agains t Kuantan FA in the first leg, here, last Friday.
