KUCHING: The body of a 34-year-old man, Aliff Fadzree Azlam believed to have fallen from Sungai Maong Bridge was discovered by a member of the public yesterday (Nov 1).

The body was handed over to the police for further investigation at around 4 pm, as the police conclude the search and rescue (SAR) operation by 4.50 pm.

Earlier, the incident, which prompted immediate response from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), was first reported at 8.52 am on Thursday (October 31).

Bomba teams from the Petra Jaya and Batu Lintang stations, responded quickly to the distress call, and the search and rescue was launched immediately.

Aliff was reported to have been on the bridge before the fall, with his wife and two children present. Initial investigations indicated no sign of him on the water’s surface, prompting an intensive SAR effort.
