LIMBANG: The body of a Brunei man, who reportedly drowned while swimming across Sungai Pandaruan on Tuesday, has been discovered yesterday at 2.50pm.
Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Operation Centre (PGO) in a statement said that the body of Steven Semuil, 23, was discovered at about three kilometres from the scene where he was last seen.
The body was handed over to Brunei police for further action.
Nearly 60 rescue personnel from various agencies including Bomba, police, Limbang Civil Defence Force (APM), and Brunei police were involved in the three-day Search and Rescue operation (SAR).
On Tuesday evening, the victim had attempted to swim across Sungai Pandaruan. Unfortunately, after swimming for about six metres, Steven had told his father-in-law who was standing at the Limbang side that he could not make it (“Aku tidak dapat lagi”) before disappearing underwater.
