SIBU: The body of a man, who went missing last Tuesday (Nov 16) after he fell into Sungai Oya at Nanga Tamin in Selangau, was found this morning (Nov 18).

A State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre spokesperson said the body of 49-year-old Limbie Gira was found about 6.30am by members of the public about one km from his last known location near his longhouse.

“The search and rescue (SAR) team together with the Stapang police team went straight to the location where the victim was found and confirmed the discovery,” he said today.

The spokesperson said the victim was pronounced dead by a team of paramedics at the scene.

“The body was then handed over to the police for further investigation and action,” he added.

Limbie was reported to have fallen into the river while checking his fishing net at about 4pm on Tuesday.

The spokesman said they received a call on Wednesday (Nov 17) at 5.52pm from the Stapang police station informing them about the matter.
