DALAT: The body of the 75-year-old woman who was reported missing in Batang Igan near Kampung Bungan Besar last Monday was found yesterday morning.
Prior to the incident, the victim, Jini Tarubok, was said to be travelling along the river by boat.
According to Mukah Fire and Rescue Department Officer-in-charge, Bonny Martin Saging Mato, the body was found by the search and rescue team that comprised the firefighters and villagers.
“The victim’s body was found near a jetty, located about 1000 metres away from the spot where she was believed to have fallen off the boat at around 9.15am,” he said when was contacted by the media yesterday afternoon.
It was understood that the incident came to light after the victim failed to return home at about 5.00pm on Monday and the boat she was travelling in was found floating in the river by villagers.
