BINTULU: A fisherman who was reported missing and believed to have fallen into the sea on Thursday, was found yesterday morning about 0.4 nautical miles from Mukah Beach.

Thirty-seven-year-old Lee Ah Leng from Kampung Penipah, Mukah, was found by villagers who participated in the search and rescue (SAR) operation which began Thursday afternoon.

The clothes on the victim’s body were still intact when his body was found.

According to Bintulu Maritime Zone director Capt Shahref Steve Mac Queen Abdullah, the victim was believed to have drowned after falling off his boat while on the way home.

It was also suspected that the victim had not used a safety jacket when the incident occurred.

The victim’s body was taken to Mukah Hospital for a post-mortem.

Roslan Ahmad, who is also the victim’s partner, was also at sea when the incident occurred.

Shahref said the SAR operation was mobilised on Thursday after receiving a call from MRSC Kuching.

The operation ended at 9.20am yesterday.
