MUKAH: The body of a missing Indian National who was reported missing in Muara Lassa River since Monday after he fell off the barge was found today.

The body of Lembodaran Nair Jayalatha, 27, was found by the search and rescue team at about 50 metres from the location he had reportedly fallen off.

His remains were handed over to police for further action.

A search and rescue (SAR) operation was immediately mounted after emergency services received alert on the incident at 10.29am on that day (Monday).

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre, a total of 31 personnel consisting of various agencies including the police, Mukah Bomba as well as the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency were deployed to the location for SAR mission.

Upon arrival there, the team conducted water surface searching method to detect the victim.

They conducted a search within a radius of 4km from the location where the victim reportedly fell off.

The SAR was halted at 5pm on Tuesday and continued today until the body was found.

The body of the Indian national has been found.
