BINTANGOR: The body of a local man, reported missing after bathing in a river near his longhouse at Kampung Nanga Semah on Tuesday, has been found drowned today (Sept 5).

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that the body of 45-year-old Raya Adam was discovered floating in the river by villagers at 12.45 pm.

The body was spotted in Kampung Semop, Daro, about 23km from the search and rescue (SAR) control post.

Rescuers were deployed to the scene to retrieve the body for family identification before it was handed over to the police for transport to the hospital.

Following the discovery, the search ended at 3 pm.

Last Tuesday, Raya along with several family members from Rumah Ibok, had gone to a nearby paddy field to pray earlier in the morning.

Following prayers, the deceased went to the river to bathe at around 8 am. About an hour later, his wife went to the river to check on him but could not locate her husband.
