KUCHING: The body of a man who went missing on Wednesday (March 15) was finally found on the third day of the search and rescue (SAR) operations at Pulau Salak waters today.

According to a Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) spokesperson, the body of the deceased, Win Myat Thu, 19, from Myanmar, was located within the search radius which is 7.2 kilometres from the Perikanan Jetty.

“Today’s operations started at 10.07 am but there was no clue or sign of the deceased.

“After taking a break, the search continues at 1 pm and at 1.05 pm, the team finally found and recover the body of the victim,” he said.

Once the body was brought onshore and inspected by medical officials, the operations were concluded at 3 pm.

Prior to this, Petra Jaya Bomba station was alerted at 1.23 pm on March 15 by Santubong police station regarding a missing person who has fallen from a boat at Pulau Salak waters.

A team was dispatched to help with the search of the victim together with marine police, the Civil Defence Force and other emergency agencies.
