LUBOK ANTU: The body of a 21-year-old youth who went missing in Sungai Nanga Entalau on Monday (Aug 22) was found floating in the river yesterday.
A spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department said the body of Tau Xian Wei was found at 7.30am.
Rescuers discovered and retrieved the floating body about 1km from the scene of the incident.
The victim’s body was later handed over to the police for verification by the family before being taken to the hospital.
Following the finding, the search and rescue (SAR) operation which entered its second day, was called off at 9am.
On Monday, the victim was bathing in the river with five of his friends.
His peers suddenly noticed he had disappeared and feared drowned before contacting the authorities for further assistance.
