KUCHING: The body of a man, believed to be the victim of a hit-and-run incident, was discovered in front of a food court at Dogan Street here today.
Padawan District Police chief, Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad disclosed that the police received a report about the discovery at approximately 5.32 am.
The victim, a man in his late 50s, of moderate stature standing at 165 cm, remains unidentified. He suffered visible injuries, including open wounds on the right forehead, abrasions on the left arm and left leg, and a wound on the right leg.
“Comprehensive examinations have been conducted, revealing bloodstains leading to the location where the body was found.
“Meticulous scrutiny has shown that the initial bloodstains originated from the main road towards MJC from Sunny Hill, approximately 160 metres away from the victim,” he stated in a statement today.
Investigations also uncovered traces of shattered blue objects believed to be components from a vehicle, indicating a collision with the victim.
Close examination of the scene indicated a small path crossing the road towards Stapok, suggesting the victim might have been jogging at the time of the incident.
Despite reviewing Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) footage, no suspicious activities, such as altercations, were detected.
“Given the evidence and the nature of the injuries sustained by the victim, the Padawan Traffic Division has been summoned to the scene to contribute to ongoing investigations,” Abang Zainal added.
In connection to this incident, family members seeking verification for a lost individual are urged to visit the Kota Sentosa Police Station.
