SIMUNJAN: The body of a 30-year-old man who jumped into Sungai Buloh last Thursday, was recovered this afternoon (Feb 13).

Simunjan fire chief Mat Undik said the body was found in a fishing net around 12.50pm by villagers.

Firefighters retrieved the body and brought it to the Sungai Buloh ferry point for the family to identify.

The victim’s body, identified as Jefri Ahmad, was later handed over to the police for further action.

Mat Undik said the search and rescue (SAR) operations — which resumed following a missing person’s report lodged by family members — ended at 2pm.

Last Thursday, it was reported that the victim was involved in a fight with a man and later jumped into the river to escape.

Several anglers who were fishing in the area, tried to save the victim but he refused to be rescued despite being caught in a strong river current.

After being alerted, a team of firemen arrived at the scene around 9.25pm to carry out a 700-metre search downstream.

During their search, they came across footprints on the river bank of the ferry point — suspected to be the missing victim’s.
