MIRI: A parcel with a warning label ‘Jangan Campak!! Ada Bom di dalam’ (Don’t throw!! There’s bomb inside) got its way into the Miri airport air cargo Thursday night , sending airport security personnel scurrying to send an SOS to the police.
A bomb disposal unit was rushed to the Miri airport cargo hold around 9.20pm. Preliminary investigation revealed that the parcel came from Kuala Lumpur and arrived here around 7.23pm Thursday.
Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah when contacted yesterday confirmed receiving a report on the incident. “Our men had conducting a check and found several motorcycle spare parts inside, and there was no bomb as written on the box,” said Lim, adding the case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
He said police are currently looking for the sender of the parcel. Lim went on to advise the public not to send any such offensive messages that could create public unease and panic. He also called on aviation companies to enhance their security services to prevent similar incidents from recurring in the future.
