PANTU: A search for durians in the forest near Bukit Begunan for three members of a family turned out nightmarish  when they lost their way back yesterday (Nov 26).

Fortunately they were found by Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) personnel around 5.20 pm and brought out of the forest around 7.10 pm last night – some nine hours after they entered the forest about 10 am.

Rescuers located the family members – a couple aged 62 and 59, and their 25-year old daughter – 1.4km into the forest based on a live location sent via WhatsApp.

A spokesman for Bomba said no injuries were reported.

The rescuers took more than an hour to reach the family’s location and another one hour to bring them out of the forest.

The spokesman said after a while they decided to go back home, but realised they could not find a way out of the forest.

They wasted no time and contacted Sri Aman Bomba for help.
