Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg recently announced a two-month bonus and RM700 for public sector employees, granting a bonus equivalent to two months’ salary.
The bonus reflects the state’s recognition of its civil servants’ hard work and dedication. It serves as a gesture of appreciation to ease financial burdens and foster continued excellence in public service.
Azrul Sharkawi, 33, who is a federal civil servant, felt an overwhelming sense of joy and gratitude for the initiative.
“Alhamdulillah, for the blessing Allah has bestowed upon us for this two-month bonus.
“One of the most significant benefits of this bonus is its versatility, and it can be a meaningful help to friends preparing to celebrate Christmas and the New Year, bringing added cheer to the festive season.
“Other than that, it provides much-needed support for parents with school-going children, allowing them to purchase essential school supplies and ensure their children are well-prepared for the upcoming academic year.
“Thank you, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari!” Azrul expressed his joy.
Similarly, Ryepolonius Monnie, a federal civil servant, says that the state government is not merely bonuses.
“Thank you, Premier Abang Jo, for remembering the federal employees serving in Sarawak.
“The incentives provided by the state government are not merely bonuses but a heartfelt token of appreciation for federal civil servants working in Sarawak as it acknowledges their contributions in facilitating the state government’s efforts, particularly in driving economic growth, developing infrastructure, enhancing education, and delivering other services in Sarawak.
“Alhamdulillah, we are deeply grateful, especially those from other states serving in Sarawak. Thank you, Abang Jo. We love the Premier of Sarawak!” he said.
Burhanuddin Zainuddin, 33, who serves the state, says the two-month bonus is a blessing for his family.
“I am delighted and grateful for the special financial assistance that has been provided, and it is a significant blessing for my family.
“This assistance will go a long way in easing the financial burden of preparing for my children’s schooling needs in 2025.
“From purchasing school uniforms and books to other essential supplies, my children will be well-equipped and ready for the new academic year.
“Such support not only brings relief to many families like mine but also reflects the government’s concern and care for the wellbeing of its employees.
“For that, I am deeply appreciative and thankful.”
As for Hanidah Baijuri, 56, she said the bonus is meaningful for those who are managing the rising cost of living.
“Alhamdulillah, and thank you to the Premier; I am very grateful for this initiative made by the state government.
“The bonus provided is a meaningful help for civil servants and the people in managing the rising cost of living.
“I hope Sarawak continues progressing in economic growth, infrastructure, and development to produce more innovative and high-quality future generations.
“At the same time, I hope that underdeveloped rural areas, especially those in dire need, will receive development on par with urban areas.”
Mohd Helmi Zamil, 30, said the announcement was uplifting news and the decision reflects the Premier’s appreciation of the civil service.
“The Premier’s announcement regarding civil servants is truly uplifting news, and I fully support him for placing his trust in Sarawak’s public service.
“This decision reflects his appreciation for the dedication and contributions of civil servants to the state.
“Undoubtedly, the bonus will motivate public sector employees to work even harder and more passionately to serve our beloved Sarawak.
“I sincerely hope that Sarawak’s economy will continue to progress and thrive, ensuring that the people themselves can reap the benefits of this growth as this aligns perfectly with the government’s vision of making Sarawak a developed and prosperous state by 2030.
“With consistent effort and support, I believe this goal is well within reach,” he said.
