KUCHING: The Tun Jugah Foundation has published a new book titled Iban Paramount Chiefs: Temenggong Iban Sarawak, Custodians of Customary Law & Cultural Practices.
According to a press statement, the book recorded the profiles of past and present Iban Temenggong in Sarawak.
“This publication is the latest addition to the foundation’s comprehensive list of significant publications on Iban knowledge and culture.
“The purpose for publishing this book is to document the life histories of 35 Iban Temenggong as well as their meritorious contributions towards the preservation of culture and restoration of peace.
“As well as their contribution towards administration of justice, and the socioeconomic and political developments of Sarawak and Malaysia.”
“It is hoped that the special publication can become a rich source of inspiration, encouragement, and reference to those who aspire to hold the office as community leaders, particularly Temenggong, in the future.
“This book would be of interest to politicians, administrators, professors, lecturers, teachers, Tuai Rumah, Penghulu and Pemanca, councillors, and the public,” the statement added.
