KUCHING: Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife, Datin Patinggi Dato Hajjah Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang on Sunday night graced the official launching of a book on Malaysian diver and two-time Olympic medallist, Pandalela Rinong Pamg and a book on Miss Malaysia World 2014, Dewi Liana Seriestha at Riverside Majestic Hotel here.

In his speech, Abang Johari said: “Today marks a remarkable moment for Pandalela and Dewi.

Both have shown very good examples not only in Sarawak but also internationally. “Both have succeeded in their own fields and we are very proud that they are Sarawakians.” The Chief Minister also congratulated the John Jinep Foundation for its noble work of assisting the Bidayuh community, particularly in education.

Both Pandalela and Dewi, when interviewed by the media, were grateful for the books which told the journey of their lives from nothing to something.

From 2016 until 2017, the John Jinep Foundation Education Assistance disbursed over RM200,000 to 164 students to enable them to further their studies at instutions of higher learning.
