MIRI: The Covid-19 vaccine booster dose programme at Wisma Federal Miri on Thursday (Jan 26) received a positive response from civil servants here.

Dr Noor Izni Mohamad Shapie said a total of 84 doses had been successfully administered – 82 booster doses II and two booster doses I.

The programme, which started from 8.30am to noon, was a continuation of the activities carried out by the Ministry of Health (KKM) in ensuring that the public get booster doses.

Dr Noor, who is the head of the Family Health Development Sector, advised the public to get a second booster shot at nearby health clinics (KK) to reduce the risk of Covid-19 infection.

He said almost 20 Kks, including Miri Hospital and Marudi Hospital as well as three Private Vaccination Centres (PPV) in Miri, were involved.

According to information from KKM, immunity after a Covid-19 infection and the Covid-19 vaccine will not last but rather decrease over time.

The risk of re-infection is also higher after six months of previous infection and booster doses is the right way to reduce the risk of re-infection.
