Telecommunications service providers have been urged to enhance 4G connectivity in the Tebedu constituency.
The Minister of Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, said that only one tower near the Tebedu Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and Security Complex (ICQS) provides Maxis services, with Unifi services also being available.
Julaihi reassured that the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) will continue to oversee the quality of services by conducting regular audit tests.
“MCMC will request other service providers like CelcomDigi and U Mobile to provide 4G service on that tower,” he said during his ministerial winding-up speech at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly today (May 13).
Additionally, he disclosed that 20 telecommunications towers have been allocated for the constituency, with 15 currently operational and the remaining five slated to commence operations in the fourth quarter of this year. The area has also seen upgrades at 32 transmitter stations to boost service coverage.
