KUCHING: The Sarawak Kitchen and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) booth sales held in conjunction with Sarawak Regatta 2023 at Kuching Waterfront here aims to raise more than RM1 million this year.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan revealed that the previous edition of the programme last year achieved remarkable sales of around RM1 million.

“Hopefully, we can achieve more than that amount (RM1 million) this year. This is our hope with the programme this year,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters after pre-launching the Sarawak Kitchen and MSMEs Sales Stall in conjunction with the Sarawak Regatta at Kuching Waterfront here yesterday (Oct 27).

Awang Tengah, who is also Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED), stated that the programme is an avenue for MSMEs to promote and market their products.

“Despite the favourable reception to the programme, this location can only host around 50 stalls.

“In spite of that, we are confident that this initiative can provide opportunities for MSMEs to showcase their products,” he added.

The event boasts 33 entrepreneurs offering a diverse range of cooked food products and beverages, with an additional 17 MSMEs offer dried food, health, and beauty products.
