SIBU: The Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) will host the prestigious Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) 2022 from July 19 to 23.
SMC deputy chairman Bujang Abdul Majid said the council is glad to re-start the festival after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19 pandemic.
“Although that we are celebrating for five days this year instead of 10 days as in previous years, this year’s celebration will still have its content to be strategically themed, ‘Beauty in ethnic diversity’.
“We are going to celebrate the vast culture of Borneo that everyone can enjoy together,” he told a press conference yesterday (Mar 30).
Bujang who is also the event’s organsing chairman said he expected people from various places to converge in Sibu to celebrate the ‘Beauty in ethnic diversity’ from various staple pavillions namely, Dayak, Melayu/Melanau and Chinese pavillions.
“As we are in the endemic phase of COVID-19, SMC is doing its best to ensure the organising of BCF will be celebrated in strict compliance with the latest standard operating procedure (SOP).
“Hence, the council would like to seek the co-operation of everyone especially those who are going to attend the BCF.
“Please kindly comply with the latest SOP and self-control measures against COVID-19 such as practising social distancing,” he implored.
