BINTULU: The Borneo International Kite Festival 2024 (BIKF) will once again fill the skies of Bintulu with colorful kites from around the world this September.

This family-friendly event is scheduled from Sept 25 to 29 at the Old Bintulu Airport site and will feature 170 participants from 27 countries.

Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) general manager Datuk Muhamad Yakup Kari said Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate at the festival.

“BIKF 2024 will showcase large kite displays, sport kite performances, wind garden displays, the Inflatable Giant Mr. King Kong, glamping, the BIKF Parade, kite workshops, and more,” he told reporters recently.

Meanwhile, on a different festival — the Tumbina Festival — Muhamad Yakup said it will take place from Aug 23 to 25.

The Bintulu Port Authority (BPA), a strategic partner of BDA, will contribute RM200,000 for BIKF 2024 and RM50,000 for the Tumbina Festival.

BPA assistant general manager (Corporate Affairs) Anuar Aikne presented a mock cheque to Muhamad Yakup at Wisma Bintulu.
