KANOWIT: A four-foot-long Bornean short-tailed python was captured after it was found seeking refuge in a storage shed in Bawan here this morning (Feb 25).

The homeowner, who stumbled upon the slithery creature coiled up in the shed behind his house, promptly alerted the Civil Defence Force (APM) around 8.30am for capture assistance.

Following that, a three-man team from Kanowit APM was dispatched to the private residence, about 45km away, after receiving a distress call.

An hour later, the team arrived at the scene and found the non-venomous reptile still coiled up in the shed.

The team subdued and captured the 5kg python using a snake tong within 25 minutes.

The reptile was later released back into its natural habitat, away from residential areas. The operation concluded at 9.55am.
