KUCHING: Anticipation is building as more than 300 Sikhs are set to gather in Labuan for the 7th edition of the Borneo Sikh Goodwill Games, scheduled from August 31 to September 2.

“The primary aim of the games is to cultivate goodwill and enhance mutual understanding within the community, while also fostering connections with neighboring regions,” said Balvir Singh, the organising chairman of this noteworthy occasion, representing the Labuan Sikh Society.

Additionally, the event is poised to contribute to the local economy through increased tourism,” he said.

A highlight of the event is the “Chardi Walk,” in which around 100 Sikhs will participate.

This engaging activity involves a walk from the Gurudwara to the nearby Botanical Garden.

 The central objective of the walk is to raise awareness about the significance of health and to instill a positive life attitude by approaching challenges with resilience.

Furthermore, the event will encompass competitive sports such as futsal, volleyball, badminton, and basketball.

Among the exciting activities is a spirited tug-of-war competition that will involve participants from Labuan, Kuching, Miri, Kota Kinabalu, and Brunei.
