KUCHING: The Borneo Sonic Music Festival (BSMF) returns this year, promising an exciting celebration of diversity and musical talent scheduled from October 11 to 12 at Sarawak Stadium.

A press statement issued yesterday (27 June) pointed out that this year’s festival aimed to unite 36,000 music enthusiasts worldwide with a vibrant lineup of regional and international performances.

“Sarawak is pioneering the path in Malaysia and in Borneo  as the perfect destination for lifestyle events and music festivals such as this. 

“In future, we might even get A-list artistes to do their concerts here as we know the economic impact of such events go well beyond tourism dollars,” Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, commented during the BSMF 2024 briefing by the organisers yesterday (June 27) at his office.

Set against the backdrop of Kuching’s cultural landscape, BSMF 2024 will showcase a diverse range of musical genres, from eclectic beats to contemporary international sounds, offering an immersive experience that celebrates global diversity.

Featuring genres like K-Pop, RnB, Hip Hop, and EDM, BSMF 2024 aims to be a hub for music lovers of all tastes, ensuring an inclusive and exciting experience.

“We are happy to thank the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) for trusting us to use Sarawak Stadium once again as the venue for the BSMF festival in 2024,” said Steven Au, managing director from BME International. 

Au said this trust ensured the field, turf and the new track would be well taken care of during the music festival.

“Upgrading some stadium facilities will increase the use of various events conducted not only by BSMF but all events involving major events. 

“We envision the stadium facilities benefitting those outside the sports industry to participate in lifestyle events such as Borneo Sonic,” commented chief executive officer (CEO) of the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC), Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan.

New features at BSMF 2024 included the Borneo Sonic Food Carnival at Dataran Stadium (Stadium Square), with 50 food and drink vendors and 20 stalls offering non-food items.

Open from 12 pm to 12 am on October 9 until Oct 12, 2024, attendees can enjoy music performances, games, giveaways, and more. Stay tuned for our Call for Vendors to register and join the food and crafts bazaar.

The BSMF 2024 Camping Ground at Football Field D (Padang D) offers a unique glamping experience just 200 metres from Sarawak Stadium and Food Street, enhancing the festival atmosphere and creating lasting memories for attendees.

For fitness enthusiasts and music lovers alike, the Borneo Sonic Music Run targets 1,000 participants and will take place at Stadium Sarawak on Saturday, October 12, 2024, starting at 7.00 am and covering a 3 km route.
