MIRI: The Borneo Pipelines Conference (BPC) 2024 is set to ignite innovation, collaboration, and the establishment of new standards in the pipeline industry, according to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Abang Johari expressed his optimism regarding the potential impact of the Borneo Pipelines Conference (BPC) 2024 as a catalyst for innovation, collaboration, and the establishment of new standards within the pipeline industry.
The Premier, in a speech delivered by Deputy Minister I for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Liwan Lagang at the conference’s official launch, highlighted the importance of discussions in addressing the evolving needs of the pipeline sector to ensure its sustainable future.
“It is through these discussions that we can address the evolving needs of the pipeline sector and ensure its sustainable future,” he stated in a speech delivered on his behalf by Deputy Minister I for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Liwan Lagang during the conference’s official launch at a leading hotel here today.
Abang Johari emphasised the essential role of pipelines in ensuring energy security and driving economic growth in Borneo, especially as Sarawak approaches a new phase in energy development.
He underscored the state’s commitment to green technology and sustainability, setting the stage for a future where energy efficiency and environmental stewardship are prioritised.
The Premier also noted the significance of pipelines as a key facilitator of Sarawak’s ambitions to lead in renewable energy, particularly in hydrogen technology.
The Premier expressed his anticipation for the conference, especially for panels like “Strategies & Developments in the Pipeline Industry towards Energy Security,” which are expected to provide valuable insights into industry challenges and opportunities.
Another crucial panel, “The Future of the Pipeline Industry: Empowering Young Professionals for Growth and Innovation,” will shed light on the importance of engaging and mentoring the next generation of industry leaders.
Abang Johari encouraged all participants to engage in idea exchange, form partnerships, and collaborate to build a more secure and sustainable energy future not only for Borneo but also beyond.
Over 200 delegates from various parts of the world have convened in Miri for the three-day conference (October 1 to 3) to deliberate on pivotal issues and future developments in the pipeline sector.
