KUCHING: Sarawak’s para lawn bowls team has successfully met its goal of securing three gold medals at the Para Malaysia Games (SUKMA) this year.

Despite facing some setbacks, including a disappointing loss in the semifinals due to a lack of luck, the team still managed to bring home an impressive haul of medals.

“Luck wasn’t on our side today,” said Sarawak para-lawn bowls coach Rosman Majunit, after the team’s defeat.

The team’s medal tally includes two silver and one bronze medal in the B2 category.

Azizie Suip won silver in the men’s singles B2 category, while Rustam Effendy Umar secured bronze.

In the women’s singles B2 category, Then Chiew Yen also earned a silver medal.

Overall, the team concluded their campaign with a total of three gold, five silver, and four bronze medals.

The gold medal winners were Nischal Nischolas Bujang and Ahmad Bashirun Ismail in the B6 doubles open, Fatimah Sun Sun Foo Chong in women’s B1 singles, and Norhasfalinda Hamdan in women’s B3 singles.
