SRI AMAN: The proposal to establish a boxing training centre here is awaiting approval from the Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak (MYSED).

Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Deputy Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis said that a four-acre site within the Sri Aman Sports Complex had been earmarked for the centre.

“We have identified the construction site and will be supporting the establishment of the training centre.
“We are waiting for a decision and funding allocation to proceed with the project.”

“Previously, we also requested the construction of two open football fields, dormitories for males and females, a dining hall, and a tennis court. We hope this development will encourage sports associations to remain active, and I also hope sports fans will visit Sri Aman,” he told reporters after officiating the division-level Malaysian Games (SUKMA) Baton Run Programme for and Para SUKMA Sarawak 2024 at the Sri Aman Riverfront today (June 15).

The Simanggang assemblyman also disclosed that the Simanggang Indoor Stadium would host the boxing events for SUKMA.
