BINTANGOR: The body of a teenager feared drown while bathing in Sungai Bakong, Jalan KJD Bintangor on Tuesday (June 29) was found today (June 30).

State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said the body of 17-year-old Putra Fadillah Abdullah was found by firefighters on the river bank, at a distance of 30 metres from the incident scene at 6.40am.

“The body was handed over to the police for further action,” the department said in a statement today (June 30).

During the incident, while bathing in the river with three of his friends, the victim was reported to have jumped into the river from the Sungai Bakong Bridge and was later swept away by strong water currents.

The victim’s friends noticed that he was drowning and attempted to rescue him, but to no avail.

They immediately alerted his father and Bomba for assistance.
