Boy feared drowned while bathing in river

MIRI: A bathing activity at a river with friends yesterday (May 31) turned tragic when a 13-year-old boy is feared to have drowned near Lubok Mulong Melugu, Bakong.
 
The incident happened around 8am when the victim, identified as Agustine Ujang Stewart, was bathing with his two friends about three metres from the riverbank.
 
While they were bathing, the victim suddenly disappeared in the waters and could not be saved by his friends, aged 13 and 15, as all of them did not know how to swim.
 
The victim was reportedly shirtless and only wore black shorts.
 
Firemen from Lopeng station were promptly deployed to the scene yesterday to commence the search and rescue (SAR) operation.
 
Today, the operation enters its second day, and as of press time, the victim has yet to be found.
