KUCHING: Chilean-Norwegian indie-pop act Boy Pablo and Indonesian rapper Ramengvrl have been announced as the headliners of the Sunbear Music and Arts Festival here in the city.
According to the organiser in a press release, the two-day festival is slated to take place at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Community Hall car park from Dec 9 to 10.
Joining the headliners are Malaysia post-hardcore band Sekumpulan Orang Gila or S.O.G. who recently won the coveted Best Song category at Anugerah Juara Lagu Ke-36 (AJL36) Awards for their collaborative single, ‘Pelukan Angkasa’ with Malaysian pop singer Shila Amzah.
Also set to perform are local punk rock trio No Good, ska punk band Plague of Happiness, rapper and singer, Airliftz and indie rock quartet Sweetass.
Kuching born and bred acts Nice Stupid Playground, singer-songwriter Claudia and Sarawak’s promising young performers; South China Sea have been also announced in the lineup.
The festival’s unique layout design will include two separate stages for continuous entertainment from both local and international artistes with diverse musical styles; including indie rock, hip hop, metal, hardcore, pop, electronic, and more.
Other attractions include art installations and imaginative activities at the fun-filled event grounds with the Jugam Art Village spotlighted as a curated marketplace of Sarawak crafts, art, and experiences within the festival area. Art workshops will also be conducted in the Jugam Art Village.
Other planned activities are batik painting and traditional instrument workshops as well as a wide selection of food and beverage stalls.
Meanwhile, the organiser said more acts will be announced soon.
